Privacy

Personal information deserves a clear explanation.

This page explains what the current North Star Theory website does, what it does not do, and how privacy information will change as new features are added.

Who is responsible

The intended controller is identified.

North Star Theory is operated by Gabriel Silva as a sole trader trading as North Star Theory, based in London, England.

For personal information whose purposes and means Gabriel Silva determines through North Star Theory, Gabriel Silva is the intended data controller. A publishable business correspondence address and an active privacy email must still be added before this notice is final.

Current website

The foundation collects as little as possible.

No visitor accounts

The current website does not ask visitors to register, create a profile, or store account details.

No on-site contact form

The website does not collect names, email addresses, or messages through an on-site contact form. The separate validation survey described below is currently closed.

No audience analytics

The current website does not include an audience analytics service or advertising tracker.

On-device planner storage

The optional Recovery Routine Builder remembers its check-ins and selected actions in this browser only. North Star Theory does not receive them, and they can be cleared with Reset week or through browser settings.

No payments

North Star Theory does not currently process orders, subscriptions, or payment information.

Validation survey

The Microsoft Forms pilot is prepared, but not open.

North Star Theory plans to use a short Microsoft Forms survey to evaluate the Recovery Routine Planner and improve the clarity and usefulness of the pilot. The response link has not been published, responses are switched off, and the current website does not collect survey answers.

When the pilot opens, the form will use the “Anyone can respond” setting without sign-in. It will not ask for names, email addresses, file uploads, health information, or other sensitive information. Its two optional free-text fields will warn respondents not to provide names, medical details, injury information, or anything else that could identify them.

A free-text answer could still identify someone if they ignore that warning. Microsoft Forms may also associate a response with service information such as a response identifier and submission time. Participation will be voluntary. If a response contains personal information despite the warning, the intended lawful basis for using it is North Star Theory's legitimate interest in testing and improving the pilot.

Results will be reviewed only in aggregate within Microsoft Forms. North Star Theory will not export the responses to Excel. Responses will close on 30 November 2026, and the raw responses will be deleted by 31 December 2026.

Survey status: closed

There is no active response link. The survey will be connected from the Recovery Routine Planner page only after these privacy and contact updates are live.

Technical delivery

A website still needs ordinary request data.

The production design uses Cloudflare Workers to deliver the website and Sanity to supply published editorial content. A provider may process technical information when a page or image is requested. This can include an internet address, browser and device information, the requested resource, the time of the request, and error or security records.

This information may be needed to deliver the website, protect it from misuse, investigate faults, and maintain reliable service. Where North Star Theory determines this use, the intended lawful basis is legitimate interests in operating and securing the website.

Cloudflare operates a global network. Sanity uses an API content delivery network, and a visitor's browser may request published images from Sanity's asset network. Their final account settings, processing locations, transfer safeguards, and retention periods must be confirmed in this notice before public launch.

Cookies and external links

Other services have their own privacy practices.

The current site does not include nonessential cookies or tracking. The optional Recovery Routine Builder uses local browser storage to remember the choices made on that device; it does not send those choices to North Star Theory. The cookie page explains that storage and how to clear it.

Links may take you to another website, such as an information source, retailer, affiliate partner, or the planned Microsoft Forms survey. That service may receive ordinary request information when you visit it and will apply its own privacy terms.

Your rights

Privacy rights depend on the information and how it is used.

  • Ask for access to personal information held about you.
  • Ask for inaccurate personal information to be corrected.
  • Ask for personal information to be deleted where the law allows.
  • Ask for processing to be restricted or object to certain uses.
  • Withdraw consent when consent is the basis for a particular use.
  • Raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

A public privacy contact route will be activated and tested before any feature that intentionally collects personal information goes live. Until then, the Contact page records the current status.

Launch information still required

The operator is identified, and the planned hosting and content providers are recorded. The validation pilot now has a defined data-minimisation and retention plan, but it remains closed. The public address and privacy email, final provider account settings, transfer safeguards, and any future processors must still be confirmed before this notice is treated as the final public privacy policy.
