A small mechanism study found that gelatin with vitamin C taken an hour before loading doubled a blood marker of collagen building, and blood from those people strengthened lab grown ligament tissue. A 14 week training trial then found collagen powder grew the kneecap tendon more than a dummy, though tendon stiffness, muscle size and strength did not differ. But a 15 week trial built the same way found no effect of collagen on any tendon measure. So the mechanism is believable, one training trial is positive, and one careful trial is flatly negative.
